I can't believe I have been blogging for a week already. It's gone super fast!
Firstly in Adelaide today hit 40 degree's and tomorrow is meant to hit 42! Talk about a heat wave!!!
Today was quite a thrifty day! I went to the local Westfield with my mum for a few hours today and it definately was 'thrifty'. I was surprised that inside wasn't as 'cool' as expected and there are certainly not as many sit down seats as there use to be apparently this stops the older community from coming over and staying all day. It's a bit sad really especially as many can't afford to run an air con in their house.
Before I hit the shops I went to the RAA shop to buy a WISH gift card as you get 5% off so $250 gift card only costs $237.50 - a great saving. You can use these at Big W, Woolies, BWS, Woolies Petrol and a few other places. (Are you seeing my cheating ways ... tee hee).
We looked in quite a lot of clothes stores but of course I just wasn't "feeling it" so no amount of clothes I felt was going to look good on me today so I guess that saved me quite a lot of money there on it's own. Also there wasn't anything that just caught my eye so if you don't like it when you first see it you aren't going to love it once you buy it!
Checked out Big W and Kmart and I noticed that they have both started their back to school sales - the crowds weren't too bad in there. I will wait a few days before going to do my shopping. I got both the catalogues today too so will look through those and 'play' them against one another.
In Big W I did look over all the cooking books as I feel that cooking is one passion I would like to start developing this year and was pleased to see Nigella's new book there but going through it there wasn't a lot of food that I saw. I do eat with my eye's so it has to grab me instantly! So a saving of $30 there!
The only thing I did buy ALL day from a shop was a fitted bed sheet for only $5. It's a Jacqaranda brand if that means anything to anyone and a thread count of 225. I've been after a new fitted sheet at a good price with a good thread count for a while so this was a bargain! It was the last one in the clearance bin too so that was great!
Lunch I did splurge on and got for $10 a chinese meal deal. It was really yummy!
I drove my mum home too as today is 40 here in adelaide so it would have been too hot for her to be on a bus for an hour to go home so she gave me $10 towards petrol and a spare petrol voucher so I was able to get a good discount on petrol as you can also imagine I paid with the WISH gift card). I'm all for savings!!!
On the way home I dropped off another bag of things to savers that we have cleaned out of the house and got another stamp on my rewards card which entitled me to 10% on my next shop. Of course one can't be 'in' savers and 'not' look around and I was SOOO glad I did. I picked up a non slip shower mat for only $3.60 and also a glass lasanga dish for $3.60. I realise 10% isn't a lot but every discount counts!
I ummed and ahhed about buying the lasanga dish now as it's exactly what I have been looking for, for a while now so I figured I was there and why not. Although tomorrow I'm going back to my mum's and driving back past saver's so I will take another bag and get another stamp taking me up to 15% off my next shop but I will save that for another time. It's definately a place not to take children into some times they have great games etc and my children always find something that they want!
For dinner I was lazy and quite hot in the house and so took the children to HJ's for dinner however I'm really wishing that I didn't as I really would have just been happy with some toast for dinner as I had a nice lunch! I had a free kids meal voucher so saved money there.
Home now and I found that Nigella Lawson has a new cooking show on tv I really love her and then flipped over to find James Bond! I rarely watch tv but what a great night in!!!
