New Years Eve - Day 5

This post is a day late as I ran out of time to post it yesterday but still here it is!

Happy New Year's "EVE".  What great plans are you up to?  We are going to my Step dads local RSL where he is a member as they have a live band and nibbles apparently $20 for a ticket and children are free so we thought why not.  Had to prebuy tickets early so that was in last years budget LOL.

However when we got there a few different turn of events.  All children over 10 were charged $10 a head and my son who is 9 and had mild autism ended up with a small tantrum a few minutes into the event as we were told it's dress policy that all males must wear a shirt with 'sleeves'.  My son is 9 he isn't a 'man', so I had to ask hubby to go to the car and it was only pure 'luck' that we found a tshirt in there with sleeves.  They say things never go as plan and to roll with the punches but this was a low blow!  Oh well!

The band was good they do cover's of popular songs! Was a little dissapointed that noone could seem to give me an answer as to 'how' the night was going to run - I'm OCD I like details!  I 'expected' there might be a free drink on arrival but there was nothing and they had nibbles at least on the invitation but they didn't serve food till 9.30pm and then it was just some small cold chicken platters.  We didn't really eat before we went (yes I know rule no 1 always eat before hand) but it was ok.  We took our own nibbles there for the children as I knew there wouldn't be a lot of food there that they would eat.

I guess when you go out to functions like this too you do expect to pay a bit for drinks.  I guess their prices aren't too bad it was $4.80 for a pint of beer but as I have said before I don't know if that's good but I do know that it seems a bit rich compared to if you bought your own carton and divided that up per cost.  We did take a bottle of soft drink for the children and myself while drinking water inbetween too.  Probably a little frowned upon but it's $2.80 for a can of drink and children being children seem to walk away and forget their drinks are there and so if your not sitting at the table and they figure noone wants your drink it gets taken away!

We did bring home two packets of chips that my mum did buy for the children early in case we didn't bring any nibbles she said they went over board though and bought 6 packets LOL.

In other 'house' news I did managed to list 12 items on ebay.  Not the 30 that I was hoping for but it takes quite a while to photograph everything and then write it up and post it.  Not long after I listed some things I had some bidders so that's good!  Decluttering the house!  Good stuff.  Ebay gives you 30 FREE (we love free) insertion's a month and as today was the 31st Dec I figured well 30 today and 30 tomorrow!  Also they will be set up at 5 day auctions finishing on Saturday and Sunday so hopefully people are home then sitting at their computers 'shopping' Tee Hee!

Oh and if your sneaky and would like to have a nosey as to what I am selling ....
